It’s the perfect marriage of rich mascarpone, fluffy ladyfingers, and a delicate hint of rosewater that brings a floral elegance to the beloved Italian classic.

Now, I know what you might be thinking, tiramisu with a floral twist? Trust me, it works! The rosewater adds such a subtle, fragrant sweetness, balancing beautifully with the creamy mascarpone and the soft, soaked ladyfingers. It’s like a little taste of spring with every bite, but with all the indulgence of tiramisu. And the best part? It’s not hard to make! A few simple steps and a little chill time, and you’ll have a dessert that’ll wow your guests and fill your home with an irresistible scent.

The finishing touch, of course, is the edible rose petals and dried rosebuds for garnish. It adds that extra touch of glamour and nostalgia, like a perfect, floral dessert straight out of a vintage cookbook. Whether you’re hosting a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to something beautiful, this Rose Tiramisu is the kind of dessert that makes you feel fancy without any of the fuss.

Ingredients

For the Cream Layer:

  • 8 oz (225 g) mascarpone cheese: Start with rich mascarpone cheese, which gives this dessert its signature creamy texture and indulgent flavor.

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream, chilled: Chilled heavy cream will whip up perfectly to create that light and airy texture in the cream layer.

  • 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar: Add powdered sugar for just the right amount of sweetness, balancing out the richness of the mascarpone.

For the Layers:

  • 2 tsp rosewater (adjust to taste): Rosewater brings a delicate, fragrant floral note that elevates this tiramisu to something truly special; adjust it to your liking for the perfect touch.
  • 20–24 ladyfingers (savoiardi biscuits): The ladyfingers soak up the rosewater-infused milk, providing a soft, spongy layer that absorbs all the creamy goodness.

  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk: Warm milk is the key to getting those ladyfingers perfectly moist without over-soaking them.

  • 1 tbsp rosewater: A splash of rosewater in the milk creates that subtle floral flavor that ties everything together beautifully.

For Decoration:

  • Edible rose petals: Garnish with edible rose petals to add a touch of elegance and a hint of romance to your dessert.
  • Dried rosebuds: Dried rosebuds not only enhance the visual appeal but also bring a rustic charm to your finished tiramisu.

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting): A light dusting of powdered sugar is the final finishing touch, adding a little sweetness and a delicate, pretty appearance.

Tips & Tricks for the Perfect Rose Tiramisu with Mascarpone

  • Don’t Over-Soak the Ladyfingers: The key to the perfect tiramisu is dipping the ladyfingers quickly into the rosewater-infused milk. Too long, and they’ll become soggy; too short, and they won’t soak up enough flavor. A quick dip of 1-2 seconds per side is just right.

  • Chill Well: Let your tiramisu chill for at least 4 hours, but overnight is even better. This allows the flavors to meld together and gives the dessert a firmer texture, making it easier to serve.

  • Adjust the Rosewater to Your Taste: Rosewater can be quite potent, so start with 2 teaspoons and taste the cream layer before adding more. You can always adjust it for a more subtle or more pronounced floral flavor.

  • Use Fresh, High-Quality Mascarpone: Mascarpone is the star of this dessert, so be sure to use a good-quality brand. A richer, creamier mascarpone will make all the difference in the final texture and flavor.

  • Whip the Cream to Soft Peaks: When whipping the heavy cream, aim for soft peaks, not stiff peaks. Soft peaks fold more easily into the mascarpone, keeping the texture light and airy.

  • Add Garnishes for Visual Appeal: While the rosewater flavor shines through, don’t forget to enhance the look of your tiramisu with edible rose petals and dried rosebuds. These garnishes will elevate the dessert and make it look extra special.

  • Make It in Individual Servings: If you want to impress your guests, try serving the tiramisu in individual cups or glasses. It not only looks beautiful but also makes for an easier serving experience.

  • Don’t Skip the Powdered Sugar Dusting: Just before serving, dust your tiramisu with a light sprinkling of powdered sugar. It adds a delicate sweetness and gives your dessert a polished, finished look.

  • Experiment with Other Flavors: While rose is the star here, feel free to experiment with different floral extracts, like lavender or orange blossom, for a unique twist. Just be sure to adjust the amount, as these flavors can be more potent than rosewater.
