Frozen Mango Margarita (Mangarita)

When the weather warms up, there’s nothing quite like a refreshing cocktail to cool down and unwind. One of my absolute favorites for a fun, tropical twist on a classic margarita is this Frozen Mango Margarita. It’s sweet, tangy, and just the right balance of flavors with the mango, lime, and a touch of agave. Plus, it’s super easy to make – you’ll have it ready in just 10 minutes!

As much as I love a good margarita, I wanted something a little more exciting than the usual lime version. That’s when I decided to swap in some frozen mango for a burst of tropical sweetness, and it worked perfectly! The result is a vibrant, slushy drink that’s not only refreshing but also feels like a mini vacation in a glass. If you like your cocktails with a bit of a kick, the tequila and triple sec come together beautifully with the lime juice and agave syrup.

Whether you’re celebrating a sunny afternoon, hosting a casual get-together, or just treating yourself after a busy day, this Frozen Mango Margarita is the perfect drink to enjoy. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, you can rim the glasses with Tajín for an extra punch, but it’s just as delicious without it. So grab your blender and let’s get blending!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks: Sweet and tropical, the frozen mango adds a refreshing burst of flavor that’s perfect for this margarita.
  • 1 cup ice cubes: The ice cubes create a smooth, slushy texture that makes every sip of this margarita so satisfying.
  • 1/2 cup silver tequila: Silver tequila brings a crisp, clean taste that pairs perfectly with the fruity mango and tangy lime.
  • 1/4 cup triple sec or orange liqueur: Triple sec adds a subtle citrus sweetness, enhancing the tropical flavors of the mango.
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice: Fresh lime juice adds a tangy punch that balances out the sweetness of the mango and agave.
  • 1-2 tablespoons agave syrup (adjust to taste): Agave syrup provides a touch of natural sweetness that complements the tartness of the lime.
  • Lime wedges, for garnish: A fresh lime wedge adds a zesty finishing touch to your margarita, making it even more refreshing.
  • Tajín seasoning or coarse salt, for rimming (optional): Tajín or coarse salt on the rim gives the margarita an extra layer of flavor and a savory contrast to the sweet mango.

Tips & Tricks for Perfect Frozen Mango Margaritas

  • Use Frozen Mango: For the best texture and consistency, use frozen mango chunks instead of fresh ones. It creates that slushy, thick margarita that’s the hallmark of a frozen drink. Plus, it helps chill the drink without watering it down.

  • Adjust Sweetness: The mango provides natural sweetness, but if you prefer a sweeter drink, add more agave syrup to taste. Start with 1 tablespoon and gradually add more if needed.

  • Fresh Lime Juice is Key: For the freshest, tangiest flavor, always use freshly squeezed lime juice instead of bottled. It makes a huge difference in the overall taste and keeps the margarita bright and zesty.

  • Chill Your Glasses: To keep your margaritas cold longer, chill your glasses in the freezer before serving. This extra touch makes the experience feel more special and refreshing.

  • Experiment with Rim Garnishes: The Tajín seasoning adds a smoky, spicy kick that pairs beautifully with the mango. If you prefer something more classic, use coarse salt, or you can even try a mix of both for a balanced flavor contrast.

  • Customize Your Alcohol: While silver tequila is traditional, feel free to experiment with different types of tequila or flavored liqueurs like Grand Marnier for a unique twist.

  • Don’t Over-Blend: Blend just enough to get a smooth, slushy consistency. Over-blending can cause the margarita to melt too quickly and lose its icy texture.

  • Serve Immediately: Frozen margaritas are best served fresh, so enjoy them right after blending while they’re still thick and frosty!
