Space Raiders Crisps
Space Raiders crisps, a popular snack brand, have been delighting consumers with their fun and tasty cosmic corn snacks. Known for their distinctive alien shape and vibrant packaging, these delicious bites always deliver in terms of both flavour and entertainment.
I remember buying a packet of space raiders with my pocket money from the corner shop. Back then I only remember pickled onion flavour, but I think beef was one of the early flavours too. These days there are a few more flavours – I’m yet to try some of them.
Steering away from conventional flavours like cheese and onion, Space Raiders blend the perfect mix of tangy and savoury to stand out in the world of crisps. From school children to busy professionals, people from all walks of life find themselves reaching for a bag of these tasty snacks when they want to experience a taste of the cosmos.
And here’s an interesting fact for you. Although people often call these tasty treats “Space Raiders Crisps”, technically speaking, they aren’t actually crisps. Space Raiders are actually corn and wheat snacks.
Background of Space Raiders Crisps
Space Raiders Crisps introduced in the 1980s by KP Snacks. These tasty and affordable products quickly became a favourite among consumers, owing to their quirky alien-themed branding and unique flavours. Kids tend to like unusual snacks so it’s no wonder these alien snacks in unusual flavours took off so well.
Space Raiders crisps come in a range of flavours such as pickled onion, beef and spicy, which cater to different taste preferences. Each crisp is shaped like a cute, cartoon alien face. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also budget-friendly, making them an ideal choice for children’s lunchboxes and casual snacking. Back when they first entered shops in 1987, you could buy a bag for just 10p. Those were the days! Obviously, the price has gone up since then, but you can find them in most supermarkets still today, or stock up online.
The packaging used to be blue and show a human-like alien with pointy ears firing some kind of blaster gun. These days, the packaging is black with an alien face. The alien and the writing is purple for Saucy BBQ, green for Pickled Onion, red for Beef and orange for Spicy.

Space Raiders crisps have been popular for decades with their quirky alien-themed packaging and delicious, unusual flavours. These cosmic corn snacks have a range of flavours that cater to various taste preferences.
Today, Space Raiders come in a variety of flavours:
- Pickled Onion

Beef flavour offers a savoury taste that appeals to the traditional crisp aficionados. With a hearty beef taste and a satisfying crunch, these crisps are perfect for those who enjoy a classic snack experience.
Pickled Onion flavour were my favourite as a child. There was something about the tangy taste that I really loved. The unique combination of pickled onion with the light, airy texture of the crisp makes for a mouth-watering treat that keeps you coming back for more.
For those who prefer a taste of the American barbeque experience, Saucy BBQ flavoured Space Raiders are a must-try. These crisps capture the essence of smoky, sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, transporting you to a summer cookout in every bite.
For fans of a little heat in their snacks, the Spicy flavour delivers a kick that will leave taste buds tingling. I haven’t tried this flavour, so I can’t comment on how fiery the spice is.
