Funny Feet Ice Cream

We were definitely spoilt when it came to treats back in the eighties. I remember being treated at the weekend to my sweet shop favourites and being allowed an ice cream on a Friday after school. Those certainly were the best days! One of my absolute favourite frozen treats was a Funny Feet Ice Cream. I used to look forward to the taste all week!

What are Funny Feet Ice Cream?

Pretty much as the name suggests, Funny Feet Ice Cream are ice creams made in the shape of feet. Made by Wall’s Ice Cream, they came on a stick just like ice lollies. They always seemed to be a little misshapen, perhaps due to melting a little at some point in transit, but that only added to their appeal.

Funny Feet were pink and white and made with both strawberry and vanilla ice cream.

Can you still buy Funny Feet Ice Cream?

The ice cream lolly that was so popular in the late seventies and eighties disappeared from the shops for quite some time and it was a bit of a worry that we’d never see them again. However, back in early 2021, the delicious treat of choice was back by popular demand and it was just in time for the Summer months. You can still buy them in the frozen aisle of most big supermarkets today. They were brought back by frozen food giant Iceland who brought out a retro Summer range in 2021.

Whenever I’ve tried to get my hands on these ice cream lollies, they have always been out of stock. But, I did find some Funny Feet lolly moulds so I’m sure it wouldn’t be too difficult to recreate them at home!
