What happened to Frosties sweets?
We often reminisce about sweets from our childhood and wonder what happened to them. I remember Frosties sweets being a real treat in our house.
What were Frosties sweets?
Frosties were made by Barratt Sweets back in the 80s. Barratt Sweets are a British giant in the sweet making business and their Frosties were incredibly popular.
Frosties were a hard round cola flavoured sweet coated in sugar with a chewy centre. The combination of textures was a real treat back then. The sweets came wrapped up in a foil wrapper that you could peel away and enjoy one sweet at a time. Let’s be honest though, nobody could just have one of these deliciously sugary treats!
Can you still buy Frosties sweets now?
Unfortunately, Frosties sweets were discontinued by Barratt back in 2015 and you can no longer buy them today.
Frosties were first made by Barratt in the 1980s when children and their parents didn’t seem to worry quite so much about the amount of sugar they were consuming.
Alternatives to Frosties
Barratt candy have made some really delicious sweets over the years and many of them are still available to buy today. Sadly, you can’t buy Frosties sweets anymore, but there are some alternative sweets you could try out that made just hit the spot if you’re craving the cola flavour.
Whilst there isn’t an exact replica of the popular sweets, these are pretty close:
Or how about treating yourself to a retro sweet hamper featuring lots of old favourites from years gone by, including cola flavoured sweets.
Sadly, I don’t think we’re ever going to see Frosties cola sweets making a comeback. But cola cubes with a chewy centre are a really close taste and texture. Retro sweets bring up such happy memories for me, just the smell of them takes me right back to my childhood. Why not treat yourself to a retro sweet package and take a trip down memory lane!
