A Look Back at the Zap Ice Lolly

A Look Back at the Zap Ice Lolly

Whether you called it a Zap Ice Lolly, or a Zap Ice Cream, these delicious frozen treats were super tasty. They were multi-coloured ice lollies that came to a pointed tip.

Can you still buy Zap Ice Lollies?

Yes! You can still buy these tasty ice lollies still. You’ll probably find them if you look for Zzapp Lollies rather than Zap Lollies.

They have changed a little over the years and now have a rounded tip rather than the triangular-shaped tip they always used to have.

Even though they are still available, they are actually quite hard to find in the shops in the UK. If you do find them, I’d love it if you could leave a comment below sharing where they were! Apparently, the best place to find them is an ice cream van.

What flavour were Zap Lollies?

These lollies were always toffee flavoured which you couldn’t really tell from the way they looked. They have multi-coloured swirls all over which kind of makes them look like they should be bubblegum flavoured.

Alternatives to Zap

It’s impossible to find anything that fits both the way Zap tasted and looked. The marble-effect lolly can be found, but not in a toffee flavour!

Other sweet treats we miss from years gone by

Like I said, the Zap Ice Lolly is apparently still available to buy, but it’s not an easy item to find so it may as well have been discontinued.

So many tasty treats from our childhoods have disappeared from supermarket and corner shop shelves. Take a look at this post of sweet treats that were discontinued. This could be due to a wider awareness of the need to cut down on sugary treats in our diets. Which treats do you miss from your childhood? Do you remember the Zap Ice Lolly? I’d love to hear your thoughts so leave a comment below!
