Burton's potato puffs

Burton’s Potato Puffs

They just don’t make snacks like they used to do they? And sadly, many snacks that we reminisce about from our childhood aren’t likely to come back. That could well be due to parents looking for healthier snack alternatives these days. We’re far more careful about the snacks we feed our kids. But I, for one, would love to see the return of Burton’s Potato Puffs. As savoury snacks go, these were up there with the tastiest.

What were Burton’s Potato Puffs?

Burton’s Potato Puffs were potato snacks made by Burton’s Biscuit Company. They were first made in the late fifties and were available in various different flavours including ready salted, cheese and onion, and salt and vinegar. I have seen people mention more exotic flavours too including chicken, beef and tomato.

Can you still buy Burton’s Potato Puffs?

The childhood snack was sadly discontinued back in the nineties apparently due to declining sales. There are similar products that you could try, but sadly, the originally school tuck shop potato puffs are no longer available to buy.

  1. Not sure what that image is you have posted, but the look more like Wotsits not potato puffs.
Potato puffs were smooth and had an edge running around them, basically thin potato crisps not wheat Puff’s.
